Brevard County’s oldest beach community is Melbourne Beach and can be accessed by traveling along A1A or going over the Melbourne Causeway from US1 to A1A. Melbourne Beach is situated on a barrier island that separates the Indian River Lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby bordering beachside cities include Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach and Satellite Beach – all located within Brevard County.

If you continue traveling north on A1A you will reach Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral – both within an hour drive to Orlando where you can access the closest International airport, theme parks and major department stores. If you want to vacation close by, simply pack a few swimsuits and hop on a cruise line to the Bahamas or Caribbean right out of Port Canaveral.

Every year, the sea turtles return to shoreline creating approximately one nest per 10 feet. Gleason Park, comprised of 27 acres features a boardwalk for strolling or fishing, shady gazebos by a lake, picnic facilities, a mapped walking trail, a playground and lighted baseball, softball and soccer field.

Every month different parts of the area will host art festivals and farmers markets providing a great way to meet new people in your community while supporting the artists and economy. After a day spent outside, check out one of the locally owned restaurants that welcome your casual attire and sandy feet while you enjoy lunch. Don’t let this carefree area fool you – as it is home to several upscale establishments that will cordially seat you upon arriving for your dinner reservation to celebrate a special occasion or entertain business clients.

Satellite High School founded in 1962 is a public high school located in Satellite Beach and has been rated an ‘A’ school in the state of Florida for over 10 years. Aside from excellent teachers they host clubs and extracurricular afterschool programs. The school is also one of three in Brevard County to have a Fine Arts Academy. The Fine Arts Academy is a Career Academy that integrates arts education into the core academic curriculum. Fine arts areas of concentration include Digital Media, Fashion Design, Instrumental Music, Technical Design, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Vocal Music.
